Help File Reference:
Appendix/Stator Structure

What is the Data Layer?
The Data Layer is a single file which contains all of your portfolio data. The Data Layer contains:

- All Owner information.
- All Portfolio/System/Trade information.
- All account information.
- All memo notes and file associations.
..... everything :-)

Basically, it contains all the data which you enter into the program.

Where is the Data Layer file located?
By default, the Stator Data Layer file is located in a folder in the installation directory that you nominate during the Stator installation. The Data Layer resides in a folder called "Data Layer Files".

What is the default name for the Data Layer file?
By default, the Stator Data Layer file is called "mod_BaseData.prp". You can rename the Data Layer file to anything you like, Stator will only connect to valid Data Layer files and it performs checks before connecting to any file to determine its validity.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Data Layer filename can be anything. Stator allows you to connect to different Data Layer files from within the program.

Can I use multiple Data Layer files?
Yes. You can configure Stator to connect to any valid Data Layer file. From within Stator, open the Data Layer Connection Manager (DLCM) and you will be able to select and connect to any valid Data Layer file.

Once you have connected to a valid Data Layer file, Stator will display the contents for you, i.e. Owners, Systems, Trades etc.
